Movie Review: San Andreas

Entertaining for what it is: A big-budget disaster movie. The movie suffers from sticking with all the clichés from this genre, including the done-to-death estranged couple forced back together during a natural disaster, narrow escapes and annoying characters getting their comeuppance. Fortunately, most of this is toned down a bit and there is an effort to bring a little more reality to the chaos. The acting is fine, with some nice character interactions. Dwayne Johnson stands out, portraying the macho role and also displaying a sincere vulnerability. The effects are extremely well done and CGI destruction is convincing.

**1/2 out of *****
