An entertaining film that doesn’t have very many highs or lows and mostly skates-by somewhere in the middle. The plot is fairly straightforward and doesn’t diverge much from what could be inferred from the trailers. While that is fine on its own, it means there’s very little in regards of surprises. (Not to mention it’s like pulling teeth to get any of the characters to give out any details on the who and why of the conflict till late in the movie.) The action is decent, but not many new tricks from the heroes, and there’s not much else too inspiring. Overall, the environments and alien creature designs are pretty good, but it’s all GG. Which looks good until it has to include the live-action characters. The stars deliver where they need to, and while Scott Lang gets a moment or two, Janet and Kang get all the standout moments. The humor is dialed-down significantly compared to the first two films. While a couple more jokes wouldn’t have hurt, it does help the funny moments work better. The ending ultimately feels incomplete, and there is a mid-credit and post-credit scene that seem to be setting up other projects.
