Another sequel/reboot of an old franchise, the latest “The Naked Gun” film manages a few solid laughs, but only by relentlessly trying and hoping something works. The plot is irrelevant here and is mostly recycled from another film. Liam Neeson does his best to snarl and deadpan his way through the film. (But he lacks that everyman vibe that make Leslie Nielsen’s Drebin Sr. so likable) The rest of the cast doesn’t add much to the movie, with both Pamela Anderson and Paul Walter Hauser being capable of doing more with their roles and yet both their characters feel like they could’ve been played by anyone.
**1/2 out of *****
