Movie Review: Furious 7
Over-the-top action that defies logic and physics keeps the adrenaline pumping, while a touching sendoff may leave you in tears. Like the previous “Fast & Furious” films, there’s no shortage of action and carnage. Most of this involves fast cars doing the impossible, but there are some entertaining hand-to-hand fights as well. The plot here gets much more convoluted than it needs to be and doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. But, these films are meant to be enjoyed as mindless action films. This movie doesn’t deliver as well as some of the previous films, but there is much heart as the real-life death of Paul Walker effects his character’s story arc. The tribute to Walker at the end of the movie is well-done and the reality of the situation makes the sequence an emotional one. The rest of the cast is solid and their chemistry is evident. However, both Dwayne Johnson and Ronda Rousey are underutilized. I was hoping for much more from their characters.
