Since I’m selective about what I see in the theater, consider this my least favorite films of the year. A deciding factor on where a movie ends up on this list is how willing I am to rewatch it. (Or in this case, if I was forced to rewatch some of these.) Watch the more… Read More: My Top 5 Worst Films of 2022 »
Watch the SPOILER review on YouTube After over a decade, “Avatar” returns, once again pushing visual effects to a new level. But, despite the breathtaking imagery, the overly-long plot doesn’t break much new ground and in fact repeats quite a few themes from the first film. As expected, the movie is beautiful to look at.… Read More: Movie Review: Avatar: The Way of Water (3D) »
Watch the SPOILER review on YouTube Thanks to strong acting and a story that properly pay tribute the life of Chadwick Boseman, the latest “Black Panther” film overcomes a long runtime and choppy pacing to deliver an entertaining experience. The story quickly dives into the untimely death of Bozeman, and eerily mirrors it with the… Read More: Movie Review: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever »
Watch the SPOILER review on YouTube A mediocre superhero film that introduces too many characters and concepts in too short of an amount of time, and is only saved by Dwayne Johnson’s physical prowess and charisma (which is unfortunately toned down.) Despite its ties the “Shazam!”, this film mostly glosses over that connection and moves… Read More: Movie Review: Black Adam »
Watch the SPOILER review on YouTube With great looking visuals and a strong concept, “Nope” is unable to live up to its lofty goals due to a disjointed narrative and characters that take too long to endear themselves to the audience. The plot is relatively simple, but there’s a strange execution to it, with chapter… Read More: Movie Review: Nope »
Watch the SPOILER review on YouTube A mildly entertaining film with a poorly executed plot, mediocre action sequences, love story that never quite connects, and hit-and-miss humor. After a decent start, the film quickly goes off course as we catch up with Thor after his most recent appearance in “Avengers: Endgame.” The pacing here is… Read More: Movie Review: Thor: Love and Thunder »
Watch the SPOILER review on YouTube A mediocre film that brings together the “Jurassic World” and “Jurassic Park” franchises that can’t overcome ridiculously over the top action, lame dinosaurs and not-so-intimidating human villains. The plot at its heart is flimsy, but the execution ramps it up to eleven to cover this fact. The two storylines… Read More: Movie Review: Jurassic World Dominion »
Watch the SPOILER review on YouTube Despite a slow build up, cookie-cutter secondary characters and a slightly convoluted third act, the sequel to 1986’s “Top Gun” delivers in the end thanks to intense action sequences, strong lead characters and solid emotional payoffs. The film starts off slow, dishing out nostalgia while letting us catch up… Read More: Movie Review: Top Gun: Maverick »
Watch the SPOILER review on YouTube Playing more like a sequel to “WandaVision” than the first “Doctor Strange,” the latest MCU addition brings a little more flash and spectacle than a satisfying story. The plot rockets along early, introducing the villain and the looming threat. Things then slow down for some necessary, (and unnecessary) detours… Read More: Movie Review: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness »
